Carrie Brownstein on the “upside of not arriving” (via fastcompany):
“The notion that you’ve arrived, I think, is—first of all, it’s probably false—but it’s also a bad place to make any kind of art. To have a sense of yourself as an impostor or an outsider kind of pushes you to not settle for something.”

Why make your own book trailer when you can have Fred Armisen do it (to great acclaim)?
It’s not the first time he’s done a Penny Marshall impression: Here’s an earlier version, from Saturday Night Live. And of course there’s also Marshall’s appearance on Portlandia.

If you’ve got a few hours, you can give a character from an Amazon Studios script a voice, put it out there for the world to enjoy, and maybe even hear yourself in a test movie version of the story. And to celebrate this addition to its online movie development process, Amazon Studios has commissioned Star Tracks – roles from three acclaimed Amazon Studios scripts voiced by four talented performers:
Star Tracks, and other dialogue tracks on the site, are available for use in test movies at no charge (just like the Amazon Studios music and sound effects libraries). They’re all building blocks of test movies, the visual rough drafts that writers, filmmakers and movie fans around the world can use to see whether or not a story is working.
Complete dialogue tracks that contain one or more character tracks (including Star Tracks) can compete for a total of $20,000 in awards in August and September. Learn more about contests and rules here. Learn more about dialogue tracks here.
