Amazon Studios Adds “Burma Rising” to Its Movie Development Slate

Amazon Studios has added a new project to its Development Slate — Burma Rising, an action thriller by Benjamin van der Veen, who co-wrote Che for Steven Soderbergh and Captive, an upcoming Arnold Schwarzenegger movie.

Here are details on the Amazon Studios project:

Burma Rising
By Benjamin van der Veen
Genre: Action and Adventure, Thriller and Suspense
Logline: After an illicit mission into Burma goes horribly wrong, a group of American mercenaries must find their way back across the border in the midst of a war between guerrillas and the vicious military junta.
Why we optioned it: Because it’s riveting from the word go. Ben has constructed an incredibly visceral, grounded escape story set in a world we don’t often see onscreen.

Amazon Studios intends to add projects to its Movie (and Series) Development Slate on a regular basis. If you have an original script that you’d like to see considered, you may submit it privately or publicly. The Amazon Studios team will evaluate each submitted script and in 45 days decide whether or not to pay $10,000 to extend the initial option by 18 months and add the project to the development slate.
